I read a lot, we know it, and since I hit 70 books this year I started thinking of the number of books I actually managed to review and, frankly, it wasn’t many. I love reviewing, I wouldn’t be here otherwise, but I am also an extremely voracious and quick reader. Oftentimes when I finish a book it’s 4 am and I just want to crash and the moment I wake up again I start a new book right away or I’m already in a book hangover. I did, altho, start trying to drop down a couple of lines about what I just finished reading no matter the hour and I thought, why not get them together, give you weekly recaps and mini-reviews of what I’m actually reading and enjoy, books in series and re-read included. If my enthusiasm for book 6 makes you start book 1, I’ll consider it a win! And then I can always amplify any reviews I feel important to me into a full-sized one! At first I thought I might want to adopt this format in video form and, maybe I even will, but for now, here you can have my week.

The second book of the Naturals series, one of my favourite Ya works by JLB. This book is about Young adults with natural attitudes to something caused by the way and the environment they have been brought up in. We have a lie detector, an emotion reader, a human-computer and two profilers. This book was a re-read for me. It’s so sweet and headstrong and You just want to curl in this world and keep this guy away from any(more) bodily and emotional harm.

Number 16th of the In Death series from JD Robb, I am thoroughly intoxicated by this never-ending series. There are 49 books and I hope I never get to see the end of it! I love the idea of having a series I’m always reading, having a book I can fall back into whenever a current read is not up to standard or a new one is giving me hangover because too good. The in death series is familiar and it seriously feels like binge-watching a Netflix show! In this book we find a serial killer immortalising his victim in photos, Eve managing to be a more than decent Wife, Summerset getting injured and Roarke getting destabilized and, finally, getting a Joy. It’s one of my favourites of the series even if the beginning was slightly a slow one for me.

This is the first of the two books about cowboys that I read this week and, boy, they are different from each other! Polar opposite! This is the bad one. I had such high hopes and then… then I started reading and I found the plot leaking water every turning page! The male protagonist is A rude misogynistic pig. Honestly, I read till the end for the Female protagonist, but I seriously hoped this book would NOT get a happy ending. It’s pretty abusive and shitty, He is seriously in need of counsel and so is she, separately. Honestly, don’t buy it.

Oh… Deep breath, what to say? This book gave me all the joy. There were not even a tiny speck of drama, there was no hickup, no shoes dropped, nothing. And I was hooked to every single word! This is the exact definition of ” Feel- good-book” And I can’t recommend it enough! I can’t believe this book is not getting more visibility, it’s so good and so easygoing, it’s so charming and did I mention full of hot cowboys? No? Well, there are also adorable nieces popping their head in from time to time and horses and tiny goats! And hot cowboys without toxic masculinity! A grumpy at the beginning hero, a perv antagonist and all the perfection of a cheesy adorable book.

Cutsy and easy, I liked it but it didn’t blow me away, I much rather read the in death series over it anytime. It bothered me the way she developed the procedural part of the story but I did like the plot twist! The romance was… nice? Cute? Not sure if too believable? Maybe it went too quick for me, but you need to take into consideration that they knew each other before… I don’t know, I would’ve liked a bit more groveling and angst, also way more use of the side-characters since she so extensively gives them power, points of view and all. But yeah, a 4.5 book, it’s decent and makes an easy read.
Anyway, this is what I read in the past week ( and a couple of days) I wanted to post this on Sunday, but the hotel wifi sucked so… bear with me, ok? I’m trying xD
Kisses as big as my ass, Love, Jess.
